"Hmmm so I have to do my research and figure it all out myself. " That is patient led recovery isnt it? When the system fails you, you have to do it yourself. No one is coming to rescue you. I see it with followers of Dr Ramani and Shahida Arabi who are therapists /researchers who interact with patients / survivors. You get more insight in these bottom up communities than you do within the MH system.
The same happened with AIDS pandemic, the reason we have AIDS antivirals is due to the patient led activism. I am seeing the same patterns of activism with the Long Covid community. Its like we have to drag them (the powers that be and institutions) to lead and govern properly. It wont happen otherwise.
