Remembrance Day

Lest we Forget!

They shall grow not old

as we that are left grow old

age shall not weary them

nor the years condemn

at the going down of the sun

and in the morning

we will remember them!

Re: Remembrance Day

I never forget @Appleblossom. My uncle is a war hero, he paid the ultimate price and never returned.

Re: Remembrance Day

@Captain24 Good on you

I wish more people would respect the lessons of war

My father was too….. wow …. What a long path I have travelled to be able to say and think that….he cleared mines in the Coral Sea….died at 45.

Re: Remembrance Day

You should be proud @Appleblossom

Re: Remembrance Day

thanks @Captain24

it has taken me a long time to… flip the script

I was 11… he was treated like a malingerer at ED the day before he died of pneumonia… cos he supposedly had schizophrenia… now I don’t believe any of th DSM BS.

I did when I was younger… I called

Legacy about his war records…they told me

it can be worth it to do the research… just not go down the wrong rabbit holes

Re: Remembrance Day

I actually ordered my uncles’s army records. @Appleblossom. It gave us a lot of information. I got it through the Australian war memorial.

I’m sorry he had such a hard time and for you to be so young.

Re: Remembrance Day

Yeah. Research can help sort the facts from the hyperbole.

Having this conversation helps.

Thanks @Captain24 and @Oaktree

You can just request the records through the Army. They used to call it Central Army Records Office but then it changed to Soldier Career Management Agency. You may need to find out what it’s currently called.
