Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

I think I would tell myself “I love you”

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

That's very powerful @Former-Member . Thank you for sharing.

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

Yep @tyme

Haven't we all 🙂

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

i like this question - I would probsvly go back and tell myself that I can have a good future and fulfilling life despite what it feels like (or felt like at the time)
something like that

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

I would also probdvly educate myself and the people around me mroe about mental health because fair to say there was a lot of time spent not knowing what was wrong with me/why I was like that

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

Agreed @ArraDreaming . You did not fulfil the 'prophecy' of your teachers. You proved them wrong.

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

Yep, and others too probably my parents as well @tyme

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

I’m just so glad there is better education in schools now

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

@tyme Just one piece of advice?

Hahaha that's a tough one, there is so much I wish I could advise my younger self!

I'd say though, "Take care of your physical health and be honest about your emotions."

Although I'd also really like to tell my younger self to start learning about emotional intelligence and find a way that suits you to stay in school....

Re: MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: Australia, Let's Talk (October 2023)

I can certainly see there's a commonality when it comes to education and honesty. @Ilovepenguins @ArraDreaming .

I think schools have come a long way so they are no longer the one-size-fits-all model.

Emotional intelligence is certainly very important.
