Antidepressants and long term use

I took myself off of antidepressants after decades of low mood, enduring zaps in the brain even after almost a year.

Life has happened since, including losing two beloved pet dogs, adult daughters who depend on me, my father's protracted and traumatic illness and eventual death and my mother's dementia diagnosis.

I have a fragile brain myself, with suspected demyelinating disease, and I can't see things getting better.

I'm scared about going back on antidepressants, but there seems little choice.

Hey @Piperry ,

Thanks for sharing.

Just to clarify, do you mean you have been on antidepressants for decades and that you been off them for a year?

Also, the antidepressants cause the zaps on the brain?

It sounds like you've been through a lot of challenging circumstances, so I can hear why things are so tough.

What do you do as part of your self care?

Re: Antidepressants and long term use

Yes, i was originally prescribed antidepressants for major depression & anxiety decades ago and tapered off a year ago. I try really hard to be positive and grateful, but each day I brace for what's next.
